Story Montage for Over EasyJuly 11, 2010 at 12:49 pm | Category: blog The first writing workshop I ever attended was taught by Jenny Crusie, and one of the things she discussed was story collaging. Hers are wondrous things, but then, she’s an artist. I’m not very artistic, but here is the montage I made based on my first story, OVER EASY. I need to go back and revise that story, but I thought you might like to see the results of my first attempt. In Jenny’s case, hers are “collages” because they feature a variety of materials. Mine is only comprised of photos; hence “montage.” (A journalism teacher of mine drilled the difference into me many years ago.) As you can tell by the title and the montage, OVER EASY is a story of love and lies and eggs in all their aspects, from Humpty Dumpty to fertilized eggs. I hope to get back to this story soon - I still like it. (You can click on this image to enlarge it.)

She’s not published yet, either, but I wanted the name to be more than a placeholder until that happens. (I’m a positive thinker.) You can read Anya’s blogs here. We’re on a summer hiatus right now, but normally you can also find me blogging at Romance: B(u)y the Book. Raffle Baskets Galore! NOTE: Our raffle proceeds always go to a very worthy cause. This year they will go to the “One Way Farm,” - a home for abused and abandoned children. There will be a giant book fair, as well as a used book trade.
I am excited to be attending this conference for the third time. So many readers and authors attend this event - it’s always a blast! And for unpublished authors, the editor and agent pitch appointments are very helpful, too. If you’re going to be there, be sure to bid on some of the raffle baskets I’ve donated - lots of books and other goodies in some really cute totes! This year I’ll be on two workshop panels: 1) Twitter vs. Facebook: The Smackdown Keri Stevens and Becke Martin Davis Fairfield Board Room, 9 - 10 a.m. Saturday 2) Critique Partners & Other Lovers: The Prenup Becke Martin Davis, Keri Stevens and Gabriella Edwards Monroe Board Room, 1 - 2 p.m. Saturday We’ll have door prizes at each of these workshops!
